CSOPA Kids in Broadway Production of Wizard of Oz!


We are thrilled to be able congratulate Stefanie Fortin, an instructor with CSOPA, and 11 of our students who have been invited to be a part of the natioinal tour of The Wizard of Oz at the Prospera Center in Chilliwack, BC on the evening of Saturday, December the 11, 2010~7 pm. Our performers have been rehearsing intensively to practice for their parts as Munchkins. What an exciting opportunity for all! Tickets available through www.ticketmaster.ca.

CSOPA's Halloween Auction & Dinner Evening!











On the evening of October 30, 2010, the world of CSOPA came together for our annual fall fundraiser. It was a family event~A Halloween & Seuss Celebration! An evening of Seuss and Sneets and carving the Roast Beast! All guests in attendance enjoyed a roast 'beast' dinner.. shopping among table after table of marvelous silent and live auction items... and were entertained by many of the CSOPA students performing on our feature stage. What a fabulous night!

Being a part of the world of CSOPA allows young people to not only polish their singing, dancing and acting talents, it also allows them the opportunity to form relationships with fellow students that go beyond the acting world. Being a part of an ensemble cast lets them have the opportunity to soar with confidence in an atmosphere of fun and support!

Seussical~The Musical-The Magic is Launched!


Chilliwack School of Performing Arts has launched the exciting beginning to Seussical~The Musical...coming to the Chilliwack Cultural Centre January 13-23, 2011. Seussial is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza bringing to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in The Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie, and a little child with a big imagination-Jo Jo. With such musical interludes as "Oh, The Thinks You Can Think"..and "It's Possible (In McElligot's Pool) CSOPA and its huge cast of over 25 young people, begin to capture the show's spirit of imagination, as the colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant, in a story that makes you laugh and cry. New Home for CSOPA Stage Productions!


The home for Chilliwack School of Performing Arts' Main Stage Production- Seussical~The Musical (January 2011) is in the new Chilliwack Cultural Centre. The construction of the $22 million state-of-the-art cultural facility in the heart of downtown Chilliwack is now complete. The Centre includes an art gallery, a 500+ seat performance theatre, a 150-seat recital hall/rehearsal space/dance studio/meeting space, music instruction rooms, arts and crafts studios and related amenities. It is located on City-owned land at The Landing, adjacent to existing sports and recreation facilities and Prospera Centre. CSOPA is excited about the new opportunities in the City of Chilliwack...and excited for the future cast and crew and all who come to be a part of Seussical~The Musical! CSOPA Spring Showcase



This year's CSOPA Spring Showcase was held June 11-13 and it featured term-ending performances by students of all ages. Junior Musical Theatre Program presented THE WIZARD OF OZ directed by Stefanie Swinnard. The average age of the performers was 7! Top photograph from performance.

Intermediate Musical Theatre Program presented 101 DALMATIONS directed by Stefanie Swinnard & Shelley Wojcik assisted by Katrina Barson. Choreography by Shelley Wojcik and musical direction by Stefanie Swinnard

Senior Performance Class presented JUVE by Campbell Smith and directed by Andrew Smith. Bottom photograph from performance. Dance Classes Presentation directed by Shelley Wojcik entertained audiences with scenes from "Officer Krupke" from West Side Story, "Anything You Can Do" from Annie Get Your Gun and many more! Introduction to Acting Class, directed by Steffi Munshaw presented scenes from "Willy Wonka," Beauty and the Beast," "Peggy the Pint-Sized Pirate," "Thumbelina" and "Alice In Wonderland."
